How to Add a Drop-Down Menu in WordPress in Easy Ways

Drop Down menu is something that every website has on their site to make their site more organized. It helps you neatly arrange content available on your website based on categories so that your site doesn’t look clumsy. Most themes available on WordPress comes with a drop menu by default. Even if there is a menu bar, not every menu bar has a drop-down menu available by default. Add Drop Down Menu in WordPress

[1] Choose any WordPress theme with menu bar support from the Theme store.

Some of the popular theme with menu bar support are

• Divi
• Astra
• Ultra
• OceanWP, and many more

[2] Install and activate the theme on your website and make the required changes needed everywhere.

[3] To create a menu, go to the Appearance section and choose the Menus option.

[4] Click on Create a New Menu text on the top highlighted in blue.

[5] Enter a name for the Menu bar and click on Create Menu button.

[6] Now under the Pages section, go to View All to see all the available pages on your site.

[7] Check the box next to the page you wish to add on your menu bar.

[8] After checking the boxes, click on Add to Menu button below.

[9] Now the added menu will appear on the right column.

[10] Here you can arrange the menu based on category and subcategory. This arrangement is done by moving the menu block to right, left, up, and down based on your need.

For example: If you have chosen Games, Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty for your menu. Here, Game is the primary category (or parent menu), and Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty will be under Games as a subcategory like

• Games
  • Fortnite
  • PUBG
  • Call of Duty

[11] Once the menu is categorized, click on Save Menu to save and apply changes.

Note: If you don’t have a menu bar already then you need to select the Display location of your menu bar and Save Menu to view it.

[12] Now you have successfully added a drop-down menu on your WordPress.

Create Interactive Drop Down Menu

The interactive Drop menu is nothing but adding even more subcategories under the category. Let’s take the previous example of the Games menu but this time add some more categories below the subcategories like Fornite, PUBG, Call of Duty, Fortnite Skin, Fortnite Maps, PUBG Skin, PUBG Maps, and this can be arranged as

• Game
  • Fortnite
    • Fortnite Skin
    • Fortnite Maps
  • PUBG
    • PUBG Skin
    • PUBG Maps
